zThe Gift

.A Documentary by Louise Hogarth

First of all WOW! I was so shocked to see that there are people so delusional and mixed up that they would infect themselves with this disease merely to find a place in the world.

Bug chasers and gift givers I never knew this sort of thing ever existed. It was like another world where people had no concept or concern for the sanctity and beauty of life. It was as if they allowed their animalistic desire for sex to overpower any and all rational thought. It seemed sex became more important than life.

I watched it alone and many times I found myself yelling at the TV. I just couldn’t believe that these people would try to justify getting and giving this. It’s evident that all these people desire freedom. Freedom from rules and regulations but at the same time they want power over someone that is not like them, someone that has freedom from this disease. It’s so frustrating!

Safe sex! Use a condom that’s all they have to do. It never seemed like such a hard concept to grasp. But for them its like murder.

There was a moment in the film that just hurt so much. When the boy said he looked into the mirror and said, “Are you happy now? Are you happy now? Are you happy now?” I almost cried. I tasted for a brief second what it felt like to be him when he said that.

This documentary made me think about so many things. And as far as I am concerned the world should see this and LEARN!!! They should learn that AIDS is no joke and that sex is a wonderful beautiful thing but at the same time it is a greedy, sinister monster that should not be take lightly. Sex can be dangerous and I don’t think people want to believe that.
